EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – Heritage Thermal Services (HTS) was honored recently for its partnership with the East Liverpool High School Job Training Club. For more than a decade, the club has worked with local businesses to help students with autism obtain essential job skills.
At the end of this school year, the club named the company as its Employer of the Year and employee Chris Noel as its Advocate of the Year. Many other employees were recognized for their work with students in the program.
A luncheon fundraiser in April 2015 for the club’s Walk 4 Autism event led to students working at the facility. Throughout the school year, HTS employees coached three students up to 10 hours a week on tasks that built communication and organizational skills.
In addition to developing job skills, HTS employees and students collaborated on several projects that raised money for Autism Speaks, the national organization for autism awareness. So far, the partnership has raised approximately $2,000 for this worthy cause.
