This past fall, Heritage Environmental Services was recognized and inducted into the Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame. With more than 50 years of experience, we’re proud to support our customers, in Indiana and across the country, manage their hazardous and non-hazardous waste – from transportation, treatment, and disposal to training and emergency response.
“As one of the largest environmental and sustainability services companies, we’re proud to employ over 1,400 people – many from within the state of Indiana where we are headquartered,” said Ali Alavi, Executive Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and General Counsel for Heritage Environmental Services. “We support business and manufacturing communities in Indiana and across the country through our commitment to sustainability as we work to find innovative ways to transform our customers’ waste streams into valuable products.”
The event, hosted by the Indiana Manufacturers Association (IMA), occurred on October 19, 2022, at Indianapolis’s Bitlwell Event Center. Held annually, the Hall of Fame occasion celebrates and recognizes the many positive achievements made by Indiana’s manufacturing community, while honoring their continual commitment toward innovative thinking, community involvement, and leadership.
“The Indiana Manufacturers Association instituted the Indiana Manufacturers Hall of Fame Awards in 2015 to help bring awareness and recognition to the many positive contributions of Hoosier manufacturers,” said IMA President and CEO Brian Burton. “We congratulate Heritage Environmental Services for their outstanding work and continued dedication to making Indiana a manufacturing powerhouse.”
Heritage has long committed to providing sustainable waste management methods that support Indiana communities and help keep the environment safe and clean. Following the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1970, the nation witnessed an increased awareness of the growing concerns of human impact on the environment. By the late 1970s, efforts were made to address the nation’s disposal of toxic waste. Before sustainability was a buzzword and a wide-spread initiative embraced by various audiences around the globe, Heritage was among the first to put this philosophy into practice. Today, we take pride in our commitment and legacy of environmental leadership and innovation, as well as our commitment to continuous improvement.
“We play a key role in not only pursuing our own sustainability efforts, but also supporting our customer’s sustainability efforts through efficient waste management and innovative recycling and reuse strategies,” Ali said.
At Heritage, we solve complex problems for our customers by offering a wide array of tailored solutions, from waste disposal, on-site support, and technical solutions to emergency response, and sustainability services to provide for a safer world. This commitment became even more relevant and recognized far and wide during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
“It was a critical time during a period when people knew very little about the virus. Business and government worked together to take every precaution to prevent the spread of the virus,” noted Ali. “At Heritage, we sprang into action to provide disinfection services to our customers across the country, including in Indiana.”
Services such as routine disinfection and establishing emergency response in locations with active outbreaks were expanded to customers and communities during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Due to these efforts, Heritage was the recipient of the IMA’s Excellence Award as the “COVID-19 Response Champion” in 2020.
