EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – The improper use of drugs is a vexing issue for employers who are serious about safety and productivity in their workplaces. In partnership with the Ohio Chamber Commerce, Heritage Thermal Services (HTS) recently convened panel of experts to focus on the problem.

“As an active member of the both the state and local chambers of commerce, we felt it was important to convene here to discuss the rise of drug abuse,” HTS Vice President of Operations Stewart Fletcher said in his introductory remarks.

Participating on the panel were: Tracy Plouck, director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction and a member of the Ohio governor’s cabinet; John Lane, chief of the East Liverpool Police Department;  John  Gamble, Columbiana County assistant criminal prosecutor; and Cara Dingus Brook, CEO of the Foundation for Appalachia Ohio. Don Boyd, director of labor and legal affairs for the state chamber, moderated and presented an overview of Ohio’s medical marijuana bill.

The event took place during a Sunrise Business Breakfast sponsored by HTS at Kent State’s Liverpool Campus. The breakfast forums, which are held periodically throughout the year, provide local chamber of commerce members the opportunity to stay abreast of vital public policy issues.
