Recycle or reuse is the primary method of waste management under the Heritage hierarchy. Presently, Heritage recycles/reuses numerous types of wastestreams, including universal waste, fuels, oils, precious metals and scrap materials (steel, fiber, plastic).

In addition to standard waste management practices, the Heritage Research and Development Committee, staffed by full-time scientists, engineers and chemists, evaluates the merits of preventing, minimizing, using, reusing, or recycling a variety of secondary materials. Heritage has a well-established track record in this regard, evaluating the technical, economic and practical aspects of such projects.
