Treatment and Disposal

Incineration

Heritage provides incineration services for hazardous and non-hazardous waste in bulk and containerized quantities through either our incineration facility (a full-service treatment, storage and disposal operation authorized by a RCRA Part B permit) and/or a mass burn ("fuel-to-energy") non-hazardous incinerator.

Hazardous Waste

The incinerator, located in East Liverpool, Ohio, is registered to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. It is the first commercial incinerator in the country to meet U.S. EPA's new Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standards for clean air. Our incinerator offers the following management methods:

Bulk Solids

Dual tanks hold up to 60 roll-off boxes of bulk solid wastes. Typical shipments include contaminated soil, rags, debris and various types of worker protection gear. Tanks are conveniently located at the base of the operations building; the incinerator's layout is so convenient, drivers can dump and leave on the same day.

Containers

Versatility is our most important feature. If it's in a DOT-approved container, our incinerator can handle it. The facility manages metal and non-metal containers up to 85 gallons. Bulk bags and boxes up to one-cubic yard (including Gaylord boxes, Wranglers and Super-Sac bulk bags) are also accepted. Contents may range from solids, sludge, liquid, and mixtures of solids and liquids. For reactive and other special materials, our incinerator feeds directly from the container. All containers are bar-coded for electronic tracking. The facility also provides services for lab packs and consumer commodities.

Bulk Liquids

From very thin waters to exceptionally thick sludge, our incinerator can handle it. Eighteen tanks, providing a total capacity of 284,000 gallons, comprise the facility's bulk liquid storage operation.

Direct Feeds

Our incinerator also offers direct feed capabilities for tankers with reactive or other special waste, including organic acids and cyanides.

Non-Hazardous Waste

Along with our incinerator's hazardous waste capabilities, Heritage also manages non-hazardous/non-regulated materials for mass burn (fuel-to-energy). Heritage manages these solid or liquid materials in container or bulk.
