Field Services
Emergency Response/OPA Response
Heritage provides oil and hazardous material emergency
response primarily through its industrial maintenance
departments. Heritage has provided emergency response
services for over 20 years and has built an unchallenged
reputation within our response sectors and routinely
responds to hundreds of spills each year. Emergency
Response Services are principally provided by the 260
personnel assigned to the remediation services department,
which operates out of five (5) Midwest service centers.
This resource base is supplemented by an additional 600
personnel who service core business lines. Heritage
maintains the technical resources to meet the
ever-increasing complexity of managing emergency response
and remedial projects.
Our response crews undergo training in handling dangerous situations and hazardous chemicals. All personnel have received advanced training in tank entry, ambient air and confined space gas monitoring, personnel protection and material transfers. Company instruction and training is supplemented by special schools and seminars.
CHEMNET Program
In 1987, Heritage became one of six emergency spill response contractors in the U.S. to be approved for the Chemical Manufacturers Association "CHEMNET" Program. CHEMNET is a mutual aid group of more than 120 chemical manufacturers and contractors, which provides technical and physical assistance at the scene of chemical accidents. We are also a certified Oil Pollution Action (OPA) contractor. We maintain required inventories of spill equipment and supplies at our key response locations.

Heritage offers response planning services through our Planned Emergency Response Services Program (PERS). We also assist our clients in setting up contingency plans for spills and helping plant personnel provide adequate instruction to their employees prior to any emergency. Some of the planning services offered by Heritage include:
