New Laboratory Equipment and Testing Capabilities

"In addition to the regulatory analysis, we can
develop custom methods on these instruments
to offer customers the latest in low level detection
capabilities for research and development
or product testing." - Dr. Damon Carl

The new instruments and testing capabilities allow Heritage to perform trace level analysis and detection of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, pharmaceuticals and personal care products and endocrine disruptors. These enhanced capabilities will be beneficial to customers in many different industries.

Heritage Laboratories has added new Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS) instruments and staff to perform trace level analysis and detection of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, pharmaceutical and personal care products, endocrine disruptors and their breakdown products in the parts per trillion range and lower. "These new LC/MS systems add to our existing GC/MS and GC/FID capabilities and allow us to perform EPA Methods 1666, 1671, 535 and 1694." said Gary Klingler, Lab Director at Heritage. "Not only did we purchase the new equipment, we also brought on board Dr. Damon Carl as the lead analyst and method development expert for LC/MS. This instrumentation and Dr. Carl's experience enables us to expand the solutions we offer to customers across many industry segments." Dr. Carl added, "In addition to the regulatory analysis, we can develop custom methods on these instruments to offer customers the latest in low level detection capabilities for research and development or product testing."

The new equipment consists of a triple stage quadrupole (LC/MS/MS) for low level quantitation of target analytes and an Exactive Orbitrap (LC/MS) for screening unknowns utilizing high resolution accurate mass technology. These state-of-the-art instruments are backed up by new solid phase extraction (SPE) and Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC) equipment for improved sample preparation prior to analysis. The LC/MS/MS is also equipped with an online extraction system called EQuanâ„¢, which results in faster sample preparation for aqueous samples compared to offline SPE.
