Health & Safety Overview
Heritage takes pride in its commitment to health and safety. Our long-term goal is to have no accidents, spills or other incidents that could adversely affect our employees, the public or the environment. Heritage shares awareness with the environmental community concerning the significance of a strong health and safety program, which is based on a culture of improvement and communication without compromising the personal and corporate liability of Heritage and its customers.
The objective of Heritage's Health and Safety Program is to control the chemical, physical, environmental chemical hazards through proper planning, hazard recognition, evaluation, control, and communication.
Heritage requires strict adherence to the standard health and safety manual to ensure the health and safety of our personnel, subcontractors and visitors at Heritage project sites.
Heritage maintains a comprehensive health and safety program for the protection of its workers at project sites. This program fully complies with OSHA general industry (29 CFR 1910) and construction industry (29 CFR 1926) standards, with emphasis placed on OSHA's "Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response" Standard, contained in 29 CFI 1910.120
Heritage's Health and Safety Program is administered by the corporate health and safety manager, who reports directly to the President. The program is implemented on a corporate-wide basis and monitored for compliance by the health and safety project managers. Project specific health and safety plans are prepared for every Heritage project. Unannounced inspections and audits are performed by the health and safety manager and the regional directors to determine compliance with the site-specific plan and the corporate health and safety program and procedures. The major elements of Heritage's corporate health and safety program are:
- Employee medical monitoring
- Employee health and safety training
- Site health and safety plan development and implementation
